Cannot lock current drive, Windows cannot run disk checking on this volume because it is write protected.
=>strange message!! Is it the drive or volume that has the problem?

Are there more volumes (partitions) on that disk? if so try chkdsk on that volume as well. Fails too?

disk part cannot found vol list

Hi,

I have the same problem. This morning when I come to office I found one of my server show a repair options screen. I used Windows Server 2008 running on Supermicro machine.

From recovery console, I have try CHKDSK X: /R /F /X still cannot running with same message, ntfs write protect thing. Also I trying DISKPART, when I do LIST VOL, LIST DRIVE, LIST PARTITION, a message occurred are 'The disk you specified is not valid. There is no disk selected.'

My disk sets mirror, and I can see both disk on bios setup. Unfortunately, I don't have any image for recovery my OS and not enable system restore feature.

Can anybody suggest me what should I do? Many thanks..

Tried all of the above. I can see the partition in diskpart and it reports it healthy, although demoted from c: to e: for some reason. Instead c: is a 100Mb partition labelled "System Rese".
When I try to run chkdsk e: /f /x /r, I get the error: "CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives"

Tried running bootrec but it fails to find any windows volumes (had been running win10, but died a few days ago...)

Any suggestions?

My teacher let me steal anot older dell precision 390 from her class. And I bought some computer parts on ebay to test them out and the machine rejected them then the Os wouldn't boot. I had the same message also when I tried chkdsk but I tried what you said and it's doing something. But I believe I will have to do some more to get whatever the school has done to it off anymore help would be appreciated!!
