Not if you get the zip version. No install required, just place the extracted exe wherever you want and run once and it is good to go

Forgive me if i'm wrong but he may need assistance in achieving this
With Foxit open click on Help and the click on "Set as default", if it doesn't do it automatically (can only see it not doing that if there is another PDF reader already present).

I haven't used adobe reader in over a year. The only thing I need in PDFs in windows is a PDF reader, and foxit displays much faster than adobe.. not to mention all the extra bloat and the unnecessary service and running processes that come with anything from adobe. 10.5 MB for foxit, vs 250+ for adobe.. they can get bent...

You are comparing peaches and oranges. Adobe reader (including air) is around 50 mb compared to Foxit's 10.

You cant compare Foxit with Adobe acrobat pro, they are in a different class.

The download is 41.4 mb.. a freshly installed reader is 211. It's even more bloated than that in systems that have had several updates to it. and that's just for the reader, without AIR..

Not too mention that Pro is severe overkill for most people. When comparing the free Reader to Foxit, Foxit wins hands down.

I personally haven't used Acrobat Reader in nearly 3 years. FoxIt has been my replacement the entire time. it's smaller to download, smaller to install, opens instantly, is free...and best of all...it displays PDF files. Our corporate standard is Acrobat reader and I cringe whenever I watch an employee click on a PDF and it starts to launch the program and takes a good 10+ seconds to actually display the PDF. What a waste of time.

The gnome version of openoffice writer does most of what the average person needs acrobat for, including creating and editing PDFs, doesn't require an internet connection to function, and is completely free.

Yes, I understand what you are saying. I've never had a need for Acrobat either, but I know that for some of our employees we license it

I updated Foxit Reader to the latest version 6.1.1.1031, and now see a new CloudReading entry in "Programs and Features". I never had this Foxit program before this update. Does anyone know what this is and if it's needed, or can I just uninstall it without breaking Foxit Reader for "client PDF...
