I've been using DVD Decrypter and Vidomi for a long time on my old Windows XP then Vista PC to convert DVD stuff I record from the TV to AVI format.

Does anyone know of any free versions of the above software for use on Windows 7 64-bit?

I used to use Gordian Knot but that takes ages to convert stuff!

Thanks in advance.

Have to admit I haven't tried it. I'll install it. I assume Vidomi works, too! Just thought there would be newer versions to take advantage of 64-bit,

64 bit stuff still lags far behind as far as codecs and filters. They have a 64 bit AviSynth. But the number of filters is very limited. They'll get there eventually.

For 64 bit in general you can check out this site:

If you want to try native 64 bit, you can do quite a bit(no pun intended) with FFMPeg. You can download native 64 bit static builds from this page:

Zeranoe FFmpeg - Builds

One "trick" instead of trying to read all the documentation, is use a Gui front end for FFMPeg to find out the common options for particular conversions. Once you know the settings you can just run it out of a batch file to plug in the name of the video.

One front end that will emit to a batch file is TEncoder
