Several of my programs require Net Framework. I've encountered a variety of errors lately where none were before in this, my oldest PC which has not had any changes for a long time.

What I'd like to address here is a Netframework 4.8 that fails to install. I've attempted to do this multiple times and it looks like the install is repeatedly looking for something it can't find. The error message is in the attached screen shot. I checked in the BIOS for a bad timestamp which is described as one of possible errors.

For certificates and whatnot, I am lost. Everything was fine on this PC until I tried to get some program updates.

An additional thing I tried which was suggested was 'updating' windows from a link provided which is something I never do.

Running an m3u file for the update did not issue any errors. But re-running the NetFramework 4.8 routine failed again.

here is the link provided for ref:

(Solved) How to Fix Installation did not succeed NET Framework Error

It may be solved for them but it didn't do me any good.

I just thought to add that this is on my only SSD boot device. I have no idea if that is a problem.

there was another thing that didn't work involving turning off Windows Updater. It ran smoothly on another PC but the
one with SSD continues with the error. I ran it, restarted and tried to get Net Framework 4.8 again

same error as above.

On the 2 GB ram the answer is it always worked, it's my oldest (and probably most fragile) PC on the homenet and the
CPU is the fastest I have to do certain jobs. The PC has specialized use for video.

On the Simplix and all that, it's worth a try. I'll sort out the steps and give it a whirl and report back.

On the cert, Is it possible to just copy and paste something-- a completed 4.0 install onto that PC? Or is Net Frameework
tinkering with areas of the Win7 on which it's installed? All this has taken a lot of time when Net Framework goes through
it's install.

Thanks for the reply. I had no idea what Simplix is.

Can you say what it means to put Simplix be beside the other thing? In a folder or in root for example.

After the two downloads your two recommendations are listed "next to each other" on The desktop. Should I then proceed?

thanks.

Just another observation on this problem. I tried a scratch SSD with only a bare Win7 installed and trying to get Net Framework 4.8 from mIcrosoft in the usual manner failed in the same way on a different PC. I've been trying all the workarounds I can think of.

Can I correct my enties so that they are separate from previous? Reading through this looks hard to follow for anyone
reading it.

Ok I'll report back with any results.

I have run the program, it said to restart and has completed that. Did the routine install the needed Net Framework
or is that a separate operation? I didn't want to procede for all the frustration of watching that whole business run
only to fail.

Run it again if you like. It will scan and if you dont need any more updates, it will tell you.

It does net frame after any regular updates. Depending how many updates you need, it may reboot more than once and cleanup.

If you look in updatepack7.log it will tell you. Or look in installed updates .

I will mark this solved with my gratitude-- in a couple days after I use it a bit-to see if it survives being shut down/restarted
etc.

The process of running this took a while. And while not BSOD some blank blue screens of a different hue made me nervous.
However the tool eventually did everything promised. I tried both Handbrake and a 'fork' of that called
VidCoder and they both run.

In many years of being on here II never heard of or had seen this tool recommended.
