Solved Going on Earth Malware!

Hi,

I have downloaded some software and had checked it with security essentials, which showed nothing.

I proceeded to install, and it apparently put some malware on my computer.
symptoms:

I can't open Security essentials
when I click a link on google it redirects me to goingonearth.com
it disables system restore.

I installed malwarebytes in safe mode and it did not find anyting.

Please help me with this problem, my computer is unusable!!

When that's done, re-run Malwarebytes. Don't run it in Safe Mode, run it in Windows.

You could create a bootable CD/DVD or USB of Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper to use at boot to try and clean your system with.

Malicious software removal tool showed nothing

standalone system sweeper - I tried to get into it at boot: I don't know if it worked, but I got some screens about resolving boot problems... i follwed the instructions given by that thing. it allowed me to do a system restore.

Now MSE works fine. I think it's solved!!

That's great news Zefzef. I would recommend to run another full malware scan at boot with Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper just to help make sure that your system is clean though.
