I reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my Dell xps15 laptop after got an SSD. It was an Dell OEM version from the backup disk. Did this before and never got this problem. This is what I have done so far:
1. First it always says Genuine Windows when I check the bottom corner of the control panel->system;
2. Followed one instruction by removing the tokens.dat file and reactivated windows. It was successful but still got 0x8004fe21 after restart;
3. Tried the following link Noel posted in another thread (yes I have read many Noel's posts
)
Genuine Microsoft Software
No problem. Activation was successful;
4. I checked and I don't seem to have KB3004394 installed. However I do remember after this reinstall I got an windows update error and google search told me it was caused by some root certificate update. I uninstalled it and was then able to update the rest of the updates. Windows prompted me to update the same root certificate update and I did it (maybe I shouldn't do this??)
Here is the output from MGADiag. Thank you so much for all your help!
