0x8004fe22 Windows not genuine

[presto88]

reformated my asus g55 years ago, with a genuine code, i used a downloaded windows 7 installer and have input my coa sticker. now it says windows not genuine.

legitcheck.hta does not work, just shows a blank white
clicking "change product key" or "activate windows now" does not do anything
slui.exe does not open or show anything once opened.

what does tampered file mean and what should i do?

Something or someone has tampered with the file.
Some times infections will do such thing. Sometime tuneup programs or clean up programs will mess with things.

I'm not understanding a grace period for a system that has been installed so long.

thanks, i have esetnod32, avg tuneup utlities, ccleaner and spybot installed. is that the culprit? if so i will just remove them.

I have never had Ccleaner do such a thing and I have used it for years.

I personally would never use Spybot or AVG anything.

Because you have Ccleaner install; show me one of these.
It might take more than on picture.

I must say that is one of the longest list of installed programs I have ever seen.

I see Tuneup Utility 2014, which has been discontinued.
I noticed Java 8 is way out of date.

You could try a Restore Point at a time before all this happened.

Do you have a Backup made before all this happened?

i know right, i did try to minimize apps but it seems that i use most of them. will try to uninstall some utilities that i mentioned, spybot and tuneup utilities first, if you think i should.

unfortunately i didnt made backups, if everything fails i will do another clean install and try to minimize apps again. im giving this another month then ill do it.

Extremely outdated and dangerous. Yep, that's one heck of a list of Software prolly worth close to 10K US I'm Not gonna ask if any of it is but a bad crack or keygen could have corrupted the OS. I also have used CCleaner for Years without any problems but I do know others that have had problems from running it too much.

i understand, pretty much the best way is to reformat everything and reinstall just the important ones.

i am now downloading an update for java, for some reason i unticked the automatic download since 2016.

If this computer was given to me to fix I would do a clean install making sure I could read the Microsoft COA sticker.
I wouldn't try to figure out what all those program have done to the system. You could be there forever trying.

It's to late for updating and removing programs. The damage is already done.
I'm don't have the knowledge to share in order to fix your system as it stands.

Then be very careful what you download and install.

If the HDD is several Years old, I'd suggest checking the drive
.
Run a Disk Check on your C: drive in Windows Vista or Windws 7:
• Click the Start button and select Computer
• Right-click on C: and select Properties
• Click on the Tools tab
• Under Error-checking click the Check Now... button and click Continue at the User Account Control prompt
• Mark the 2 boxes next to Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors
• Click on the Start button
• When the message box pops up, click the Schedule disk check button and restart your computer
• Once your computer restarts it will check the drive, don't press any keys so that it is allowed to do so
This will take (on average) 1 to 2 hours, so please let it complete.
Do not force a Reboot during the check as this will cause file damage .....


Re-run the sfc /scannow command after this if required -
