I've been trying to figure out a problem that I've been having for the past week or longer. When I have firefox open as it seems, is when the problem arises. My computer will stall for 10-20 seconds making it completely unusable for that time frame, then it will come back. I upgraded FireFox to 15 (Beta2) I removed Adobe Flash (latest version) and installed it again, the problem continues. I did a memory test, because I have had a BSOD roughly twice in the past 1.5 weeks, the memory results were good. I did research on Adobe Flash and found that there are problems with the latest version, and sometimes a Adobe Flash app on a web site will crash. When I've had no web pages open in FireFox, it will happen as well ? I can't verify if I've had this problem when FireFox is closed or not as there wasn't many times in which I didn't have FireFox open whether minimized or the window open.

Not sure if this is helpful or relevent

But there is a problem with the current beta as well 15(beta4)....this has been ongoing from the previous beta's ... Also which version of flash are you using.

The best way to find out is by using process monitor

You could also try disabling hardware acceleration as well for firefox... this is know to cause hangs in some cases.

Hi

If its a Harddisk problem... you would face the problem in general with any application...

But you could also look at the HardDrive SMART values using this and post a snapshot here

You said you did a memtest... to confirm if its not the memory.. u need to do the test for atleast 6-8 passes...

Let me know

The memory test, did do 6-8 passes. Maybe it isn't the HDD or it was something else, I hate odd issues like this.

Jerome,
I agree with you and do not think you have a hdd or memory problem.

First, you can help us to help you by:

Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (located on the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec
(left-hand column)

To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info

In the System Manufacturer Block, enter:
Manufacturer and Model and
ADD the word laptop, desktop, netbook or tablet.
For example:
Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES.

You will find that in Speccy, you can select info from the display
using your mouse/touchpad and then paste that info into your specs.

SIW is a marvelous program, but the free version does not offer
this capability.

Let me know when you've updated the specs.
