With all troubleshooting it is important that you only look at one potential solution at a time, and yes there is a chance that a solution will not work or even make things worse. All of the solutions provided in the Microsoft article are reversible, so if it does not work you can simply re-set the changed setting to how it was and try another one.

It's important to look at the possible causes, it may be that some further investigation is needed, before you actually make any changes,

Eg. it could be that your ISP details include information about IPv6 support, If this is stated to be fully supported then disabling IPv6 support is not likely to be useful for your issue If your ISP does not support IPv6 then this would be an obvious first choice :)

for changes on the actual system make a note of the starting settings and any changes your make, only try one solution at a time and preferably create a restore point before the changes, a re-boot after any changes is also a good idea even though it is not always suggested in a solution.

The other thing to consider is how much actual problem the issue is to you, if it is just an entry in the error log, without any actual detrimental effect on your use of the system, then it possibly best to do nothing and remove any possibility of a fix causing worse issues ;)
