It's nice to see Avira free edition give the best paid for AVs a run for their money and wiping the floor with other free editions (although I am using Norton Gaming Edition at the minute). It's the second year running they have it No1 in it's category.

I'ts everybody to their own though and I thought I would post this for the people who are deciding what Anti Virus they should choose.

I had AVG for about 1.5 year, than I switched to Avira after having some of my friends computer being crashed by AVG, it was deleting a system file!

I am very satisfied with Avira. I'm happy to see that I did a good choice.

Avira antivir is very good, but it's free edtion has time limitation, that's a pity

me either. i regularly check Virus Bulletin's latest results.I'm a subscriber so i get constant updates and it's kept my faith in NOD32 as the AV program of choice

G-Data does seem to be getting good reviews and seeing as My ESET 30 day trial is coming to an end I am gonna try out G-data - I will post any findings here.

The AV-comparitives are competent but don´t seem to take performance or system stress into account - whereas Toms Guide concentrates more on the speed and performance aspects. I guess we will need to form opinions based on both sets of results.

EDIT just been to the Link posted by Jacee and they place Bit Defender at No1- however AV - comparitives only place BitDefender in the Midfield... So I guess there are 3 sources where we must go to make a balanced judgement...

It really is time that someone brings out a security software with good recognition, easy use and performance - that can´t be too much to ask can it? - especially when you think that the limited time they "sell" you a licence (at hefty prices) for is more like leasing your software than buying it!
