Solved 2nd hard drive wont let pc sleep or restart

I have a HP Elitebook 8460p with an i7 2620m and radeon 6470m graphics. My main drive is a kingston 240gb ssd. I recently bought a dvd drive to hard drive adapter and put a 500gb hard drive in my pc to download all my games on. But when the hard drive is in the computer and I close the lid (yes I have closing the lid set to sleep mode) the hard drive continues to run and when I open the lid back up, I just get a black screen with most of my front io lights on. And when I hit the restart button I get the same thing. But when I remove the 2nd hard drive, the computer works perfectly fine. Anything help would be appreciated!

Welcome to the Forum.

Check BIOS to see how the HDD is recognized.
Onen a cmd window and type
sfc /scannow

if I remember, the computer bios recognize the 2nd hard drive as an expansion bay. and the scan didnt find anything. But i have learned that if the computer is on for like 20 minutes or so, the sleep mode and restart works fine, but not if the computer has only been on for a few minutes

I found a solution for my problem!! I put my ssd with my os on it and put that into the upgrade bay, and then placed my storage hard drive where you usually put your main drive. Then I went into my bios and made sure that "boot from upgrade bay" was enabled. And now my computer goes to sleep and restarts normally
