4 th or 6 Gen Intel Processor ?

Hello,

Trying to decide on new desktop PC with W 10.
No gaming.
Just household use, internet and Photos, etc.

Think I would notice any difference if I order one with a 4 th generation Intel processor rather than
the newer 6 th generation ?

Other than speed, I imagine, any other meaningful differences ?

New operating system since you want to use it for a little while it would be nice if the hardware wasn't years older than the os

Those 2 generations would require different motherboards with a different socket.

Each of those generations has a bunch of different processors, so you aren't telling us much.

The newer socket boards would have some features not found on the earlier socket. The newer generation might run a little cooler and use less power.

The newer motherboard would require DDR4 RAM. The earlier one would use DDR3.

For ordinary use, it probably wouldn't matter unless you had some fairly unusual requirements that would benefit from the new features.

But---------I don't see any reason to go with the earlier generation unless you are getting some highly unusual price break or you can't find a new generation model that fits in your budget.

Provide more details with actual prices for the hardware you might actually buy for a better answer.

We are so getting ripped off, even if you factor in the exchange rate difference.
