KB2972211
KB2973112
KB2952664

The error codes are 8024200D and 8007371B

I ran SURT and SFC but I cant attach the CBS.zip file because its about 23M and 8M is the limit

Thanks

Mark

I'll post a fix protocol when I can - but 'real life' is getting in the way at the moment :(

Never mind - got to it now :)

I've uploaded a file - mm5aa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder mm5aa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be one folder inside it (Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

CheckSUR managed to fix everything it was supposed to -leaving us with the payload files to fix.

Please run an SFC /SCANNOW, and post the new CBS.log (you'll have to copy it to the desktop before zipping it) and the latest CBSPersist cab file (you'll have to zip that as well - the forum doesn't allow CAB files to upload)

The last entry in the CBS.log file is from 18th Oct - and pretty useless to us, since it pre-dates the CheckSUR fixes.

Please copy the files from the c:\windows\logs\cbs folder again, and upload them

I think in view of this combination of errors, the best option for you is going to be a repair install of the OS - it will almost certainly be quicker than attempting manual repair of the known (and unknown) errors.##See the tutorial here... http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html?ltr=R

Should I attempt a system restore first or just go to the repair installation? Are my system files too corrupted for a system restore?

Frequently the root problem predates available System Restore points - but yes, it's worth trying. go back a week before you first noticed the problem.

I finally got around to doing a repair installation and everything turned out good. I had to uninstall and then reinstall several programs. McAfee, Malwarebytes, iTunes and ATI Catalyst Control Center. I also downloaded a copy of Win7 x64 from digital river. I'm back in business with updates working as normal. Thanks
