40 seconds stuck on "starting windows" screen... With an SSD...

Hello everyone,

So I made a Ryzen build, with Windows 7. Yes I know, It's not fully compatible but I managed to install the USB drivers and installed wufuc. However I have a problem: the "starting windows" screen lasted for a normal 5-7 seconds during the first few starts, and since 2 days It's taking 40 seconds, sometimes 1 minute. I guess it's correlated with me using W7 with a Ryzen but please don't tell me the same things as those reddit guys ("just go to W10 duh"), actually I came on this forum because I hope people will be more tolerant!
I don't know where it comes from: If I was able to start windows in 5-7secs I should be able to go back to it right? Does it have something to do with some updates I made?

If someone could help me out with this I'd be grateful! Thanks

Hello GoldenTicket and welcome to Seven Forums

AMD confirmed that it has tested and validated Ryzen on Windows 7, but that it won’t officially support the OS. It puts to rest the suggestion of a recent translated report from Computerbase that AMD would reverse its stance and ship Windows 7 drivers for Ryzen.

“To achieve the highest confidence in the performance of our AMD Ryzen desktop processors (formerly code-named ‘Summit Ridge’), AMD validated them across two different OS generations, Windows 7 and 10,” AMD said in a statement in response to a question from PCWorld. “However, only support and drivers for Windows 10 will be provided in AMD Ryzen desktop processor production parts.”

On a more personally note, I like Windows 7 very much however I would not recommend it with that hardware.

Best option would be to install a more recent operating system (Windows 10 or Linux) and run Windows 7 as a virtual machine.

If Windows 8.1 will work on your computer, you could install Windows 8.1 and Classic Shell, and then configure Classic Shell to make Windows 8.1 look and feel exactly like Windows 7.

I fear that Windows 8.1 will have the same update policy as Windows 7 on your machine; but in my opinion it is worth looking into this option.

I use Samba to share my data drive with the other computers at my house and with my guest session in VMWare Workstation Player.
Thank you for your answers, but until 2020 I'll keep Seven. I just hoped someone knew which update package could be the problem causing the PC to boot from 8 seconds to 40 seconds... Thanks anyway :-)
