Advice required please. Looking to purchase a 4k monitor which will work at 60Hz for general computing - not into games but apparently these things default to 30Hz and the gain over a conventional 1080 monitor then becomes minimal apparently.

I know my existing graphics card won't power the thing but getting advice from vendors is well - do they know what they are talking about as it's all a bit puffy advice.

Maybe my Win7 x64 will require a jump to Win10. So really I'm confused over this. Maybe the idea just isn't worth it.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks for the input. Guess I was oggling a friends latest iMac although I'm definitely not going down that route. The clarity was great though along with the price!!!!!

If you think it`s worth it, then by all means get one.

Can you post a link ?

The screen is worth it but not for the $$$'s and definitely do not wish to go down the iOS road. I use my PC mainly for web design.

A quick review here

That is a review of an imac, I thought you were asking about a 4k monitor

Apologies, I meant the OSX route. The iMAC has a 4k or is it a 5k monitor. There are several 4k monitors for the PC being advertised, various prices - mixed reviews. Some seem to auto downgrade to 30Hz when you try to enable 2160 instead of 1080. The screen quality then degrades so really there isn't any point. Unless you upgrade your graphics card - again mixed reviews.

The 2 or 3 vendors I've spoken to are, or so it appears, confused. So I was after input from anyone that had real world experience. Is it worthwhile or best just to wait until things mature.
