ive just installed windows 7 x64 and the windows update has installed the driver for my sound card but i cant get full surround sound.

everytime i restart and login i have to say whats connected into the 3 jacks but when the sound does start it only comes through the front 2 speakers, centre speaker and the sub.

when i try to open the SoundMAX program it says "SoundMAX required windows vista. This application is shutting down.

does anyone know where i can get a x64 version of SoundMAX for win7

On many systems, SigmaTel drivers from the motherboard vendor are required for the sound to work correctly. Windows installs a generic SoundMax driver (SoundMax is now called IDT) and in some cases the Windows drivers do not work or work correctly. I'd check the ASUS site to see what they have as a starter.

On some devices Vista drivers will work with Win 7, since Win 7 is basically "Vista improved". You may have to install the SoundMax drivers in the Vista compatibility mode to get them working if there are no Win 7 specific drivers available.
