That score coincides with the technology of the drive. Mechanical drives will always be on the same level with one another in terms of performance regardless of whether they are 5400rpm or 10,000 rpm. There are noticable differences between them, but if you look at the overall picture a raptor is an incremental upgrade and not revolutionary. My Intel G2 160gb SSD scores a 7.7 but my drive is a revolutionary upgrade not an improvement of an old technology.
