Been a while since I posted on this comment...

As you mentioned above, I have exactly the same problem...
Select 60, just reverts back to 59! REALLY IRRITATING!!!

I suppose we will just have to get used to it until Win 7 eventually takes over from XP (I recon a year or 2!) then, only then will this problem eventually be resolved with service pack 4 or something!

BUT, I have run into 2 other problems which I think are sort of related here, and I hope other might be experiencing it too....

Firstly, the aspect ratio thing...
I usually set the nVidia aspect ratio to "use NVIDIA scaling with fixed-aspect ratio". If I run something with a 4:3 ratio, the screen should display it as that and not stretch it.
Now, when I select this, and hit apply, it confirms the change, then just reverts back to using the monitors built in scaling?!?!?! WTF?????

Secondly, When I play games, watch a movie or basically do anything in full screen and something that is very bright comes on, the monitor blanks out for a few seconds. For example, with the new game Castle Wolfenstien. When this was released, I rushed out and bought (waiting for ages for it! Awesome game!). Now, when ever there is an explosion or something bright on the screen, and you are looking in that direction, the screen will blank out!
This is VERY irritating....

From what I have sort of worked out is that it might have something to, possibly, with DirectX and the drivers, but I am not sure...

Anybody else having this problem?

P.S. Sorry for trying to change the subject here, but these could be related somehow?!?!

Weird - sounds like a dynamic contrast setting, or something like that. Which card do you have? What is the make/model of your monitor? Plz give more info on your rig. Thanks!

Doesn't work for me either.

Same problem as Deanos.
If I type in 60.001 the apply box is greyed out.
Nvidia control panel states range is 58.000 to 60.000.

It worked for me after a lot of fiddling, thanks very much. I can't believe that this would work after all the attempts I'd already made. There must be something magic about that .001...!

It's a but fiddley getting it to take expecially if one already has custom resolutions. Best to delete any that are close or equivalent and to change the actual resolution temporarily to something less. Then the new custom resolution takes like a dream.

My laptop is a lenovo T500 with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650. Only my TV was doing the 59hz thing (possibly only at 1920 by 1080, but I'd have to check). My laptop monitor likes 60hz just fine.

(Thought I'd post more info just for the hell of it, someone else might be reading this topic).

Using gateway 26" 1080p 1900x1200 native res.. The monitor is supposed to work upto 75hz at this resolution but i have had the same problem being stuck at 59hz. I used jimmyt fix and got it working at 60hz finally, At first the test wouldnt show up for 60.000 hz so i changed it to 59.999 hz and the allowed resolution hz opened up to 55.000 - 65.000 hz. I put in 60.000hz and this time the test button worked. checked nvidia control and it showed 60hz. restarted and it stays 60hz. good fix.. thanks. been wondering why it defaulted to 59hz. then seen this post.

Tried this and while the custom res is there, it pops right back to 59 when I apply the setting. And looks like the .001 doesn't stick.

Whats the problem?? Win 7 x64

Well, it doesn't work for me, even though the control panel tells me, I can go up to 61hz. I'll give that 'direct refresh' program a try. But I better don't expect anything :/

OMG!!!!! Finally!!!!!!!!!!!

I have got my system running at 60Hz now!
edit: Max I can set it too now is 61Hz!!!!

As Urbwolf mentions above, go into custom, and set the Hz to 59.999. Remember the max was 60.000!!!
Now, click test, it accepts it, then exit.
Go back in and it is now set to 60Hz!

Also as mentioned above, if you go back in to change the Hz again, it is now "magically" opened, but mine was from 58.000 to 61.000!

But all good for now!

I'll keep an eye on things and report back if anything changes again!!!!!!!!!

edit: 1 thing I have just picked up now is that it still doesn't resolve the issue of the monitor blanking out every so often!
Oh well...

Just retrace your steps, and make sure that you do it exactly as mentioned above!
