64 bit = 32bit?

Is there some kind of error or glitch here? I downloaded the 64bit (Which was 32bit) I thought I read somewhere that 64bit = 86bit..

his wei is high so it might be ok, but i always thought the rule of thumb is 2 gigs= x86 and 4 gigs= x64

I was, some weks ago, browsing for a better(64Bit) computer, or another 2 gbs to add to my 4 year old 64bit laptop.
However, it is running better than any previous OS, 64 or 32bits with only 2gbs memory.
I am not a great game player, or graphics manipulator, so there is not a huge ram demand. I've put my wallet back in my pocket!

Your WEI is higher than mine is and I'm running x64 fine on 2GB.

If I hadn't just upgraded from 2 to 4gb on the system prior to January I would be running both here! If you can put up with the 3.581 out of 4gb for usable ram there's no problem with running either with a little extra while simply being a change of kernels doesn't require more just makes more memory available with the 64bit addressing. http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/41531554-d5ef-4f2c-8fb9-149bdc5c8a701033.mspx

What you have is good.I would stick with it ,you wont have any problems with it ,and if you do you know where to come,you have a great WEI score ,better than a lot of people on this forum, so stick with it in my opinion.

Well XP is just a temp OS for now until I download the beta from Microsoft may 5th..

The recommendation for the installation of the RC is to perform a clean install uf your hardware meets the minimum requirements. Since you already seem to have had 7 that's already covered. I clipped this out of the email MS sent here.

That's ro be expected and normal there! When you go to install some older program even some games those will be seen in x86 folder while 64bit compatible softwares and updates plus default folders will be seen in the 64bit. This is how the 64bit 7 is now setup to separate by design the 32bit emulation from the normal 64bit programs.
