64 Bit Win 7 Ultimate Install Not Possible?

I have a 64 Bit Win 7 Ultimate host running. Downloaded the Microsoft Virtual PC 64 Bit.
Created a Win 7 32 Bit OS Virtual Machine. Work great.

Now I am also trying to create a 64 Bit Win 7 Virtual Machine and as soon as the OS Setup Starts, I get the error that it is not possible as I am trying to install a 64 Bit OS on a 32 Bit only capable machine. What is this????

Is it not possible or I am doing something wrong???

Hello ZZingy, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Sorry, but Windows Virtual PC only supports a 32-bit guest (VM) OS not a 64-bit OS. It will support a 32-bit or 64-bit host (your Windows 7) OS only.

Hi all

Don't know about Virtual Box but the vmware products WILL allow you to run a 64 bit guest OS from a 32 bit host so long as the virtualisation is enabled in the BIOS.

When the first W7 X-64 BETA came out (many many moons ago now) I initially ran this on a VM with a host Win XP system.
