64 bit Windows 7

that's what I have. I just DLd Office and it says 32 bit. but it works OK. did I do something wrong?

Most 32-bit programs will work fine on Windows 7 64-bit.


If you look under your C drive in Windows Explorer you will see two folders:

1. Program Files
2. Program Files (x86)

Program Files holds any 64-bit programs while Program Files (x86) holds any 32-bit programs, so you'll find your Microsoft Office application here.

You have nothing to worry about.

thank you- thru work, I got Office 2010 for 9.99- downloaded in 25 min, works like a charm.

Actually, you did exactly the right thing in this case.

Although Microsoft produces a 64-bit version of Office, they recommend that one install the 32-bit version even on 64-bit versions of Windows. I forget exactly why - but, well, there you are.

You're quite right in your supposition, Corazon.

Basically, if you are an Excel power user and/or need to use file sizes greater than 2GB then you need the 64-bit version of Office.

Generally speaking, the 32-bit version of Office is recommended so as to ensure compatibility with other 32-bit applications.
