6870 display driver has error every 3 mins

new psu in today installed it still dose not work giving me the display driver error every 3 to 5
min still every one was wrong about the psu.

You can try to fix it this way or RMA the card I had a issue with my Diamond a while back they sent me a new one been running gold ever since I also have a twin frozer

Maybe you have it clocked to high as well and if you are Use-ing a 400w supply that would be it you need atleast 550w but would reccomend 600w If you Oc cpu or do anything other then running stock that could be it as well

A to do list;

1. Increase core/memory idle clock speeds(from suat @thw); Open Catalyst Control Center (new version since October 2011. Older versions have a different procedure.).

Make sure Enable Graphics Overdrive is unchecked in Overdrive section.

Click Presets.

Click Add preset.

Give a name to the preset (such as Speedy and note it) and save.

Now go to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\ATI\ACE\Profiles\ (AppData folder is hidden. Select Show all files and folders in Folder Options.).

In Profiles folder, you will see a file called Speedy.xml. This file you have just created.

Open Speedy.xml with notepad.

In this file there is a line

name="CoreClockTarget....."
<Property name="Want_0" value="xxx00" /> (xxx00 is your idle-state core clock. Make it 40000)

and another line

name="MemoryClockTarget....."
<Property name="Want_0" value="yyy00" /> (yyy00 is your idle-state memory clock. Make it 90000)

Change only the Want_0 values. These are the idle-state clocks.

Save the file with the changes you have made.

Now go back to Catalyst Control Center.

Select the Preset called Speedy and then put a checkmark in the box next to Enable Graphics OverDrive.

Click Apply at the bottom of the Catalyst Control Center window.

Now you can see the new increased idle-state core/memory clock speeds.

2. I'm going to assume you have Realtek on board audio, please make sure your driver is up to date. http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Driver/motherboard_driver_audio_realtek_azalia-ati.exe

We don't write the OS or the drivers. Sorry. You could try the suggestions we have given you and you still don't have any luck, then RMA the card again. Or, you could just RMA the card.

i dont want to have to mess around with this card anymore i am just going to RMA it or even better get a refund
the one i had before that would freeze everything up worked better then this one when it was working thats just sad
i don't want to do smothing to make it work i want it to just work right.

dumb to mask a problem and not fix it.

Also, this all depends on what you call, "fixed".

The idle clock increase should stop the TDR from occurring.
Or you could just change the registry setting. Either way, if the display driver stops crashing, it's fixed.

Really? Do you know what most hotfixes do?

A vast majority of problems are related to registry settings.

I don't think I've ever had a computer that I didn't have to modify SOMETHING in the registry.

Those trails are odd, and man, that card is DIRTY!!!! How long has it been since you last cleaned your case?

my case is spotless thats the rma one they sent me back
thats what it looked like when i opened the RMA box

That was a RMA card that card is old and it was probally someone elses's bad card

sounds like a dud card - whizz it back and get it replaced pronto..

have you tried running your PC with single DIMM of RAM or running memtest overnight. memory can be a big issue.

i did try it with each ram at a time and did test them in memtest i sent the card in for RMA the power supply i got was a corsair tx750 v2
