7 HP x64 - Startup Repair Loop, NoRootCause - two Win7versions on PC

thank you for the comments.


I didn't use the snapshot function because I don't have the computer connected to the Internet at the moment. That is because the old Win7 version hasn't been updated for ages and would so now for a long time, being even more slow and making gargling noises all the time.


I disconnected HDD as you suggested and started the repair function of the Win7 DVD (which has the same options as the inbuilt repair system). Did repair but it could not find any error. Then booted from the SSD, which directly prompted the inbuilt repair surface, saying - as always - , that the startup repair cannot repair the computer automatically.

That is the same that I have seen for the last days. The difference now is that before I could get to the boot-with-prompt option and see that it always would crash when showing "..drivers/pnpclass.sys".
Now it wouldn't let me get even there but goes directly into the repair mode, telling me ...guess what... that startup repair cannot repair the computer automatically.
I reconnected the HDD and it boots the old version without problems.

To be more precise: I am referring to the Windows recovery environment. To my impression that are the same functions als the repair function that offers the original install CD.

When the SSD was booting, did you had a window to choose between the HDD and the SSD?

In a case like that I would backup all data and do a clean install.
IMPORTANT: If you decide to go with a clean install don't forget to disconnect the HDD leaving on only the SSD or you may have the boot loader in one disk and windows in another disk.

Yes,
there is always a window opening asking me to chose between the two windows options.
If I choose the SSD version -> it goes directly in the repair mode without any result.
If I choose the HDD version -> it boots without problems.


I am getting aquainted to the thought that I will have to do a clean re-install. Already bought an MS office 2010 version on the internet since I will lose the one on the SSD and on the HDD its only office 2003. As soon as that CD arrives, I guess I will re-install.

I seems that you didn't disconnected the HDD when you did the Win 7 installation on the SSD.
To boot the SSD you must have the HDD as the boot loader is on the HDD.
Let's wait for specialized help.

well, I disconnected the power and the energy cable from the HDD so I would consider it disconnected
