Lenovo Thinkpad with 7 Professional x64, computer is new to me (refurbished) with a fresh install of 7. I can connect to the internet with an ethernet cable. However I cannot connect to wifi, no wifi networks are shown, only thing shown is 'broadband connection'. I have an eero router and have several other computers connected to it, working fine. The on/off switch is on, checked obvious things recommended online, no change. I feel like I'm missing something obvious. Thanks for any assistance.

After a clean install of Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit was done in that 2009-era Lenovo ThinkPad SL510, were the drivers installed for its primary devices (chipset, graphics, audio, ethernet, wireless, etc.)?

If you can advise us what the exact serial number is on it, we may be able to locate the support site for it.

I once had a laptop with no WiFi. I opened it up, removed then re-seated the Wifi card, and it has worked reliably to this day. Or it could be that the card is dead and you need to replace it.

Do you see the WFi listed in Device Manager? If not, do you see any 'unknown device'? An unknown device would indicate you need to install a driver.

No WiFi device and no unknown devices would suggest the WiFi card is not being seen, either due to a poor connection or it's dead.

If you can advise us what the exact serial number is on it, we may be able to locate the support site for it.

It's too old to be on the main support site any more, so you can no longer look it up by serial number. For drivers, etc, you'll need to visit the Lenovo EOL support site: Lenovo EOL Portal

Thanks guys for the info. I was not seeing anything whatsoever not even an unknown device. I downloaded all the drivers from Lenovo, and Wifi appeared and worked, evidently only some of the primary drivers had been installed, as I was seeing some of them (audio, ethernet), that's what got me confused. Seems obvious now, oh well, at least it was an easy fix
