Upgraded my laptop to 7057 from 7022 and all went well, apart from the fact that I now have no internet connection?

Wireless is connected but its limited with no internet. Running the troubleshooter throws up that it cant fix it - but it does!! and it all works fine, that is until the next reboot  So if I want it working, the troubleshooter must be run first.

Any ideas guys?

I have been testing 7057. In 7048 I was losing my internet connection after a time - needing a restart to fix. I hoped that upgrading to 7057 would fix that. Installed and ran windows update and two optional updates were listed. One for my vga card and one for my wireless linksys adapter (identified as a broadcom 802.11g wireless adapter).

Installed the wireless adapater but the driver wouldn't work. Yellow triangle in Device Manager. Rolled back and now have internet - so far it hasn't lost connection.

This adapter is ver.1 so it's pretty ancient, maybe time for a new wireless adapter.

check you device manager, the new driver is not initalized correctly.
For my Lenovo Netbook and rollback of the driver was the only solution.

I am also using a Lenovo, the x200 Tablet, and now my computer is detecting absolutely nothing for wireless networks. I know it is a problem with this build, since when I was using 7022 it worked great... and I currently have another laptop in my house and the wireless on that still works great.

Can anybody please help me resolve this? I even took my laptop and plugged in the LAN cord from my desktop into it, but even that is unable to get internet.... oh man.

Also to note.... it worked at first with 7057, but then I did the Windows updates, and now it is FUBAR.

Have any of you tried a winsock repair? ... just curious, as I don't know if this will work or not.

Windows firewall causing problems?

This may sound utterly rubbish, but I upgraded from Win 7 beta to build 7057 (I think) this week. I ran as an upgrade rather than clean install. Almost as soon as I'd upgraded, I started to experience intermittent problems with my wireless connection and the network troubleshooter had to reset my adapter for me to reconnect.

I noticed that the adapter generally failed whenever I was downloading more than one large file at any one time - bizarre - but sometimes it just conked out on me.

Anyway, I happened to notice that my AVG firewall couldn't start because it couldn't communicate with a "device". I used the online technical support to delete some NDIS(?) file and then reinstall AVG and reconfigure the firewall for the home setting while disabling the Windows firewall.

I've just managed to download about 5 100mb files simultaneously and the network connection has remained intact.... for now.

Fingers crossed eh?

Oh, I'm on a Dell inspiron 1520 with a Dell 1390 wireless adapter.
