Hey!
I installed windows 7 RTM (64bit) few days back, i have Quad core processor, Asus P5QPL-AM motherboard, 4GB RAM ... I was running windows XP before and my card (9800GT) was working fine on XP. When i installed windows 7, everything was smooth, except that Nvidia Control Panel was not appearing in my taskbar, i went to Nvidia website and downloaded 9800GT latest drivers for windows 7 64bit ...

After installing, Nvidia Control Panel is still missing in my taskbar, and i have only Physx Properties in my new programs after installing drivers ... i can only hit the max screen resolution to 1600x1200 ... Under "screen resolution" properties it is showing my display as "Generic non-PNP monitor" and when i hit "detect" and try to change it to "Nvidia 9800GT" my screen resolution (list of resolutions) option turns dead.

I am really thankful to you guys for providing this platform to raise such issues, i ll really appreciate if someone can spare some time to help me out.

Thanks in advance n waiting anxiously for your help.

Did you uninstall your old driver before installing the new driver? Did you got to add remove programs? Have a look at this tutorial and see if it applies to you. Good luck to you.

OK forget about the corupted driver.,it's bull crap, here's how I did mine. Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt + Del > Task Manager). Run Nvidia Driver setup, just start installing the driver. Switch to Task Manager. Check if there's a process called nvupnpbr.exe *32 (If it's not there yet, wait for a while till it shows up). End the process (nvupnpbr.exe *32). That's it, wait for the setup to complete. Right click on desktop and the Control Panel should be there. You might want to install Nvidia Physx manually,or not if it's shown in nvidia control panel.

GF 9800 GT, Windows 7 x64

If you're having the same problem with windows 7 x32, I think your should end the process called nvupnpamd64.exe instead. Anyway, I hope this works for everyone.

If it works spread my comment,i see that there are a lot of errors like this :D

Try this, download the latest driver from Nvidia's site, then get Universal Extractor

On install only check the top box. It will create a Extract on the right-click context menu.

Rather than double-clicking the file, this will extract the contents of the .exe file,

No go to Device Manager and under Display adapters, choose update driver software, now go back to Device Manager, click on the Nvidia card and choose update driver software
