Last month I started getting this BSOD, and I'm not sure the reason. I'd love help on what to do to see if anything I did caused this. I know prior to it happening AVG was accidentally set to delete a bunch of things and may have deleted some important files, but I'm not sure if it was just coincidental timing. Back in June I replaced my HD because the one I had for a long time died. I had Vista prior to that and have 7 on the new one, but have had no problems with it up until these BSODs.

The computer will freeze up on everything, and eventually BSOD most of the time. Sometimes it doesn't restart after the BSOD and I have to hard reset it. Sometimes it doesn't even BSOD and just freeze up and black screen. Sometimes I can tell when it is about to happen because it starts to hang up, and if any video or music is on I can hear it start to sound a little bit choppy. It seems that opening files/downloading things/windows opening seem to be a little slow overall too, now.

Like I said, any help as to what the issue might be would be appreciated before jumping straight to the motherboard frying conclusion (which one forum did that didn't even help me out and eventually just deleted my post when I kept saying that I still had the problem...) as obviously dropping money on a new desktop is the very last thing I'd like to do if I don't absolutely have to.

I've also attached a .rar with what I hope are all of the right files, but please let me know what else I can do or provide to help.

Thanks a lot.

I hope posting again isn't against the rules, but something big and sudden just happened. Loading the Documents/Control Panel/Computer screens, the sidebar where your computer/drives load up wouldn't load at all. So I decided to restart the computer. When I did so, the HP blue startup screen appeared, but the computer didn't go past that. And despite the F## prompts to access the BIOS and Diagnostics, etc being in screen, hitting those buttons did nothing. Panicked, I looked on my phone for potential help, and after unplugging everything from the computer itself (computer, mouse, all USBs) and trying to start it again, the computer thankfully booted up. As a test, I plugged everything back in and restarted again and it seemed to restart without a problem. But this was very worrisome when it happened, if this incident helps in anyone who replies to this.

You may also upload a photo or image you already have as you would a file, without using the Snipping tool.

You might give your new drive (HDD) a test as well, start with this one:
Try this too, download this: CrystalDiskInfo - Software - Crystal Dew World and open the program and follow the steps in this snip.

If you don't see Windows is activated, that is the main problem right there and we will need to have you follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see if there are any added problems.
http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-...ne-activation-issue-posting-instructions.html

And as Derekimo pointed out
Can you fill in your specs too,

Having a complete list of your system hardware specifications makes it far easier to troubleshoot issues. Use this to help gather that information:

System Info - See Your System Specs

There were some other problems:

  • In your OP you say you had problems with AVG, but your MSINFO32 report says you still have McAfee Security Scan Plus as a startup program Use this to remove McAfee: https://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS101331 and read the whole Document, there are some caveats depending on what type of McAfee services/products you may have installed.

  • Leave AVG on for a while because you'll need some protection while online, I would suggest Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE), but if your OS isn't activated properly it won't install.

  • And there was a recent problem with WUDFHost, but that could be related to your OS.
Honestly, if it is an activation problem you may want to consider a Clean Install instead of wading through all these problems.

I am making my way through each post to try things. You are first! Thank you for starters.

I will run a full Memtest overnight. I ran one just now and found no problems, but am aware that sometimes it takes a number of tests to spot a problem. I plan to leave it on overnight and will post again if it finds anything.

Furmark ran for 10 minutes with no problems.

Prime95 I ran for around 3 - 4 hours and nothing seems to have come up from it.

As for overclocking, I have not changed a thing about my settings so I do not believe I am.

The 0xC004F014 error means:
0xC004F014
The Software Protection Service reported that the product key is not available MAK/KMS client No product keys are installed on the system. Install a MAK product key, or install a KMS Setup key found in \sources\pid.txt on the installation media.

Source, scroll down till you see it listed on the left: How to troubleshoot Volume Activation error codes in Windows 7, in Windows Server 2008, and in Windows Vista
In line 4. The 0xC004F014 error indicates that the Product Key is not available - but the system has found a valid license and Key for the 586bc076-c93d-429a-afe5-a69fbc644e88 license type..
This is interpreted from what NoelDP found with another member: Source Post #20

Go to: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\System Then scroll to the bottom do you see this? I x'd my PID out for security.

If you don't see Windows is activated, that is the main problem right there and we will need to have you follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see if there are any added problems.

My Windows is installed like in the image. Could the problem have been trying to install something else? Before I got an official Windows 7, I got one of those specific reinstall for my computer tower from the company. One of those ones that are very specific and ended up not working, as my old HDD was running Windows Vista. I think traces of it is still on this HDD from when I attempted to reinstall it but it failed.

One way to find out would be to try and install MSE. If there are any problems with your present operating system. It will not install.

The problem you are describing with the specific reinstall could be a problem with the OEM_SLP Key used by the Company? And your changing the operating system (OS) and Hard Disk Drive (HDD) manufacturer.

  • Is this "Company" where you work?

  • Did you purchase one of their old machines that they no longer wanted or needed?

But please. First, follow Britton's request to use the system specs tool to fill out your system specs, it does make it much easier to help you.
