It is true that love can happen at any time in our lives so I'm not completely pessimistic - all those younger attractive girls out there that so entice me are probably beyond my reach though. We don't seem able to alter who we find attractive.

Hey, pincushion, don't worry. I had one disastrous relationship after another, culminating in one that went completely wrong after 2 children. I had to leave, won't say any more, still hurts, always will.

Anyway, this is how I met the lady who is the centre of my world, 2 more great kids and 4 smashing G-kids:

I was alone but living with parents (anyone who has ever been in that situation, will know what I mean.) I picked up the local free paper and read the "Lonely Hearts" page. This, among other long, explicit messages, caught my eye -
"Lady, [agegiven here], wishes to meet gentleman."
I immediately thought, that says it all. Now, doesn't it? And she was indeed a lady, still is, always will be.

I wrote a long letter to the Box Number, we met. We never stopped talking and laughing that first night and we always find something to talk about. We can make each other laugh and we have stood by each other (and the offspring!) through some bad times and a lot of good times. Next year will be 25 years together and I want to wake up next to her forever.

It can happen my friend, just don't force it. And if you are reading the Lonely Hearts, or using Dating sites, look for the ones who don't try to tell you too much.

I must admit I do tend to put quite a bit of detail about myself on dating sites (makes up for not being entirely photogenic) and I do appreciate it from others too - I'm probably a bit fussy, lol. Apart from my age, I am in the best shape within that I have ever been so will take what comes. However, why is that the ones we fancy don't fancy us and vice-versa? :huh:

At least I know I can fall in love at first sight since it happened quite recently even if I let her slip from my grasp - too young I think anyway, lol.

Well that guy continues to send me messages but now has turned into hate mail and he is telling me stuff like 'you don't know what you just lost', and 'you are such a child' and stuff like that. Interesting logic he has, he dumped me, then came back to beg me to come back to him by telling me a bunch of lies that he didn't actually dumped me and now is trying to make me guilty? Even tho that when he did leave me on my birthday even tho he denies it, I didn't tell him a single bad word.

Seriously...

You've proven your maturity, compassion, and integrity with your posts on this Forum. You have no reason to doubt your self-worth. And you certainly don't owe anything to "that guy". Hold your head high and be glad you found out what his true colors are.
