"A disk read error occurred"

Hey,
I should start by saying I am a total beginner with computers but anyway, yesterday my computer kept crashing at startup and I stupidly tried fixing it myself by restoring my computer to factory settings. However, now upon booting up im given the message "a disk read error occurred, press ctrl alt del to restart". I have tried restarting it ibviously many times with no success. Any help would be appreciated.

Don't install it. Just download it and burn the ISO file. Partition Wizard Bootable CD allows user to manage partition directly with partition manager bootable CD.
Of course download and burn on another machine. Your machine can't download right now

But it has usb. Do you have a usb stick you can use (I mean make empty and put stuff on)?

on another computer: install this YUMI ? Multiboot USB Creator | USB Pen Drive Linux
run it and put Partition Wizard on the usb stick. It is in the YUMI list and very easy to transfer to usb stick.

Boot the problem computer from that usb stick

Put a bootable usb stick in a usb port. When you boot you see on very first screen "press F2 to enter bios". What is written exactly? Maybe another text is written on screen as well. Something like "press F12 to enter one time boot options".

Those message appear on screen for about 1 second! So look and read fast. And repeat procedure if it's too fast.

Having Factory Recovery fail is not uncommon, sometimes can be overcome by wiping the HD with Diskpart Clean Command to run Recovery from disks or flash media you made.

But since you don't have a DVD drive and the Factory preinstalled Win7 is a grossly inferior install anyway, I would do what most tech enthusiasts do and Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

The Win7 installer for your licensed version is provided in tutorial along with tool to write it to flash stick, boot to delete all partitions, then install Win7. If you stick with the steps given you will get and keep a perfect install, as we have helped tens of thousands of others get here.
