A few dumb questions about SSD installation

I have my new SSD physically installed and it shows in Windows 7 x64 Device Manager.
It does not show in Windows Explorer.

So now I have to create a partition and format the SSD. So I have to ask a dumb question as to how to do these steps? I see no way to do these steps in W7.

To initialize new disks

1. Type Disk Management in start search box, click on Create and Format Hard Disk partitions

2. Right-click the disk you want to initialize, and then click Initialize Disk.

3. In the Initialize Disk dialog box, select the disk(s) to initialize.

4. Select the master boot record (MBR) partition style.

5. The disk is initialized as a basic disk.

Ok now Disk Management show the SSD an Unallocated. So how do I Partition and Format it?

In Disk Management, rt click it, select create, new simple volume, select a size ( or jut click next if you are making one partition of the whole drive - doesn't matter, you can shrink it to make others later.)

Select ntfs, quick format and give it a drive letter.

If you plan to install windows7 on this SSD you need not align it - the Win7 installer will do that for you. If, however, you want to transfer a clone of your current system, I suggest you align and partition it in elevated Command Prompt:
1 once the elevated cmd window is open type diskpart
2 list disk
3 select disk X with X being the number given for your ssd
4 clean this destroys all partition/volume data on the disk.
5 create partition primary align 1024
6 active
7 exit
