Glad you got that partition moved.

The next one will be a little different as MS Disk Manager can't move your OS partition to the left, only to the right.

Partition Wizard is a good free Partition Manager, but that's for another time

There are some really good prices on HD now, check around and you'll find a good deal.

I checked your manual Acer Aspire 5310 user manual

You can look in the manual for system info.

At the Acer website, put in your system serial number.
Acer Information About Your System – input system serial

For all the information about your computer try SIW, a system information for Windows program. This has more information than you will need.

SIW - System Information for Windows

Open it, under Hardware, click Storage Devices, the information of your current HD should be Disk0.
In the Interface, will say either PATA (IDE), or Serial ATA (SATA).
Your manual says your computer will take 80GB to 250GB hard drive, with the above information you will know if you need IDE or SATA.

Decide if you want 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM, faster is better.
Your going to be looking for the type, SATA or IDE.
HD size, your manual says, 80GB to 250GB.
Laptop HD, 2 1/2".

I have decide i might buy a desktop in the next week, dont knolw what im going to do about my windows 7 can i reinstall it on new desktop with the same product code, if im unable to get a desktop with the free upgrade to 7.

Will depend on if it's an upgrade or full version of Win7.

OEM or retail.

OEM will be tied to the first mother board it sees. You can get MS to issue a new key but, from laptop to desktop, they likely won't.

If your new desktop is eligible for the Win7 upgrade, that's the best way to go.

If not, you are allowed one key for one system.

You will have to un-install it from your laptop to use it on another computer.

For an Upgrade of Win7 Professional you will need the equivalent version of Vista on the new desktop.

If it's a full version then take it off the laptop and you can install it on the new desktop.
