So my rotue has a nat firewall, and I also have a software firewall, Windows built in one, using another program to configure windows firewall alot easier. Anyway my question is this: Would the NAT firewall mess with any downloads or anything? How important is it to have the NAT firewall on my router on? anything bad happen if I was to shut it off?

Having a firewall in the router and using Window firewall at the same time is a good thing, and is in fact recommended. I am sure most experienced members of this forum are doing this. Turning off the routers firewall would cost you some security. In some situations this may be desirable but for the large majority of people this is not necessary.

Edit: having 2 or more firewalls running on the computer is an entirely different situation and would cause problems.
