Just change it with the checkmarks. English is your default. Try to disable EN in the settings.

What do you want to change?
The keyboard layout settings and input scheme? - that's done with the language bar.
Or do you want to change the system display language, menus and the like? That's done in the Control Panel -> Clock, Language and Region - Change display language.
You might need to install the system display languages you want to use. That you can do at: Control Panel -> System and Security -> Windows Update -> optional updates - Select the language packs you need and click OK

Asking on multiple occasions within minutes will not get you faster or more detailed responses from anybody... OK, mon vieux... ;)

Windows language bar can only work entirely correctly if you have installed or setup the corresponding language, encoding, and regional settings. Especially as applies to your default language. You also need to set your language preference order inside Internet Explorer (unless it's been disabled) if you expect your language bar settings to stay rock solid, and you would almost certainly have had to have chosen to install the far-eastern character sets during OS installation to grant you full support for arabic characters.

Hot keys for input languages

Hi all!

I have a little bit different issue (maybe I shall open a new thread? please moderator, help)

I currently need to work with 4 keyboard layouts or "input languages" (IT-EN-DE-RU). To me it is unacceptable to hit LeftAlt+Shift to cycle between layouts, because I never know where I am. I found much more efficient to assign a shortcut to each layout:

Ctrl+Shift+1 -> IT
Ctrl+Shift+2 -> EN
Ctrl+Shift+3 -> DE
Ctrl+Shift+4 -> RU

(see the picture for detailed configuration)

this way I can always go to the keyboard layout I need very quickly.

This configuration had been working perfectly for years with WinXP, and for a few months with Win7. Now, since a couple of weeks only, each time I restart the system I loose my input languages hotkeys. I tried to add also Russian as a OS display language, that was the only one not installed in the system, but didn't help at all.

1.
Has anybody an idea of why this strange thing is happening? (since two weeks only, and I haven't installed anything new)

2.
Assuming that these shortcuts are written somewhere in the registry, has anyone an idea of where? Maybe I could try to lock the registry value to readonly, so no changes should happen any more.

Thank you in advance
MaX
