"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing"

I fixed this part of my problem following gregrocker's device. Go here and select your motherboard type. Unzip/extract the files onto an external hard drive or USB flash drive or a disc. The less files/folders on the disc, the easier it will be to find.

This worked for me in solving the first part of my problem.

Sorry, I didn't really elaborate on this. Insert your method of transferring the driver, browse for the file, choose the drive that has the drivers on it, select the driver, then next.

I can try! The only prompt I recieve is "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing"...etc. I'm not even sure what driver it wants.

I'll be back as soon as I get done testing this. If this doesn't work I'll go back to the vLite idea.

Once again, can't thank you enough for sticking with me here...hah.

Thanks for reminding me jradicle11 since it was your similar case that got the drivers in.

I was thinking it was this case, then you appear. Very cool.

How was the NVidia SATA driver marked, do you remember?

Same result :(

Looks like I need to borrow/buy a flash drive.

You can pick one up at Walmart for a tenner. Handy little trinkets to have around ...

Sorry, the driver you're looking for is the SATA ACHI controller I believe.

Yea, gregrocker, I'm just passing on your info to others now :).

You should be able to run the .exe and it will prompt you for a location to extract the files to. When it does that, set the location to the USB drive or whatever you're using to transfer. It should extract them there.

I'm not sure how I'm getting this wrong...So I run the installer, it asks me "Where would you like to save your files?" And I select D:\ (with my blank DVD+R in) and I get an error message with no message. Just a blank box with a red X and the title NVIDIA Windows XP nForce Drivers. What am I doing wrong?

You may not be able to extract the files to DVD.

Try downloading to desktop, extract there and then drag folder to DVD

i don't believe it's going to work on a disk. ive tried everything i can think of, and the files wont go on. prolly going to have to bite the bullet and get the flash drive.

Well, you can't really call that a bad thing. I can't even count how many times I've needed my flash drive. Hell, mines even been through the wash and still trucks on. They're greatttt for school, which helps a lot for me but not that many here are still in school I can imagine.

I'll get off of my flash drive soap box.

Just follow what gregrocker said, but instead of DVD, it'll be your flash drive.

i had a bit of downtime today, so i borrowed a flash drive and tried to install the drivers via that, as discussed.

no go! uggghhhhh

it doesn't want any of the drivers. i extracted the files from the mobo installer app that i previously mentioned onto the flash drive. everything was going fine, got the USB drive to show up when i went to browse for the files...and it only found one driver, which didn't show up in the box. i only knew it had found a driver when it didn't give me the error message about not finding anything. i unclicked "hide drivers that are not compatible with your hardware" and it popped up - ill get the name later, didnt write it down. I need to run back through and take thorough notes about it. I'll do so, and report back in a few hours when I've got some time.

bummed

Try to get the SATA/IDE controller into the installer, browsing all related files until it locks on it and will upload.

If no go, try writing your WIn7 ISO to flash stick using Ultra ISO trial version Bootable tab, using format button first. View attachment 44180

Boot by tapping key given on first bootup screen for Boot Menu, select under Hard Drives.

nothings working...and i dont have a 4gb flash drive, only a 2. i suppose i could go buy one, but at this point i think im going to just forget about 7 for awhile...i dunno.

the last thing i tried was to put all the drivers from my ASRock all in 1 disk that came with my computer on the flash stick and try to find a driver it likes...there were a lot, and i might not have checked them all, but nothing worked. i dont even know what driver its actually wanting here. is it REALLY a CD/DVD driver? or is it a mobo driver? is it SATA controller? or does it have to do with the fact that i have 32 bit windows installed on a 64 bit system and it wants all the drivers it thinks my system has?

could reformat, install win xp 64 and eliminate my problem? or should i just buy vista and try to upgrade? because this is really seeming like a lost cause :(

just installed successfully

I got the same error message these days. re-download the ISO file, burn it into DVD today. reinstalled it, still got the same error message again.

I was intended to replace my SATA DVD drive, but I left my IDE DVD drive at office. then I enter the BIOS, set the SATA disk from RAID/IDE to AHCI, reboot, reinstall, it complete without any errors. I believe early, the system asked for the Gigabyte RAID driver as my SATA DVD connect to Gigabye SATA port. my other 4 SATA hard drive connect to intel ICH9R ports and set to RAID. There are two SATA settings in my BIOS, one is for Intel ICH9R, the other one is for Gigabyte.

Good luck to you.
