Access XP Mode files from Windows 7

Courier New would have been available when the printer was made as it debuted in Windows 3.1, but V11 of Medisoft is the clinker here and I doubt there's any way around it unless there was an update which added TTF and printer support.

Medisoft 11 works fine on my other XP machines. It prints perfectly. It only doesn't work in XP Mode (on my Windows 7 machine). Doesn't that mean that Medisoft 11 has TTF support? Or am I misunderstanding what you're saying?

I upgraded the firmware but it didn't help.

Additionally, you said there are drivers for Windows 7. I installed those in the beginning on Windows 7. But I installed the drivers for XP when I setup the printer in XP Mode. Is this correct?

Any more suggestions? Or any more thoughts as to why Medisoft 11 prints fine from XP but not from XP Mode?

Quick question, when Medisoft gives you the data on screen does it look correct or is it only seen in print preview? I have more but don't want to get ahead of myself.

I meant Courier New should be a font in the printers font style set but I'm really guessing since I have never worked with that particular printer.

When I view data within Medisoft (i.e., not previewing a report), it looks fine.

The problem is when I print or preview a report.

Hmmmm, I know this is an extra step but if I remember correctly you have MS Office, if you do a select all, coy and paste into MS Word what does it look like? I'm trying to identify the font style and size it imports into MS Word I don't believe Medisoft is a bright program, once we know what it imports maybe we can adjust the Medisoft to be something less likely to change.

I can not copy from the preview in Medisoft. It won't allow me to "select" anything.

Not print preview the actual Medisoft work screen, Print Preview Screen is only what it says it is a preview no further actions may be performed.

I'm OK, I should have quit for a bit, what I was trying to find out was if Medisoft came up in a way you could copy what was on the final view of data in the Medisoft software screen and import it into MS Word, this would tell us what font it is using, if the font field has some oddball font, or worse like being blank, we'll then know there is difficulty resolving from Medisoft to Print Preview and also the printer.

As far as emulation is concerned some of the steps I posted earlier deal with setting the emulation inside the printers configuration, just setting the driver for HP IIP alone will not resolve the fonts the printer has to be configured then shut down and rebooted just like a PC to have the emulation take effect.

I also downloaded a DEMO copy of Medisoft 11 and am playing with it to familiarize myself with what you see on your PC so it will take me a bit to figure this out. I also noted the program has at least 4 Service Packs SP1.....SP4, I hope you have the latest.

So should I try this again? If so, do I just set it to HP Laserjet emulation on the control panel of the printer ... then turn it off and turn it back on? Or something more than that?

Yes I've been running SP4 for years ... and that's what's installed on all my computers.

Yes, that's really all there is, set the emulation per the instructions I posted, set the font and pitch, if your printer requires a save I did not find it in the manual but generally once it is set and you get back to the main menu and reboot it should be what you set it to. If you know how to run a test page internally, most printers do it by holding a button down when powering it, that would verify your internal settings, then make sure your printer driver coincides with it and the font and pitch are what Medisoft wants and you should be OK.

there is no 'reboot' on the menu. do you just mean turning it off and back on?

Most printers with a built in menu allows you to set font type and size I don't have your manual so I suggest just going through the printers menu items and seeing what it has if you don't find it I will dig around and see if I can find one in .pdf format so I can guide you. Rebooting is done differently on all printers, my Canon has a recycle which reboots it my HP simply lets me bring it back to the beginning menu then I turn power off and back on again giving it a cold boot and think you Brother is the same as my HP. Sorry for not being one yesterday the heat is killing me physically.
