Acer been BSOD last few weeks

Hi already tried that, any combination over 2 MB fails the test

My help desk freind recons it is probably the memory contoller

Could be... but strange because if the controller gets messed up, I'd expect more mem problems, not just a 2G limit.

But an easy thing to test: Boot your system (with 3GB, those 3x1 GB sticks, in it) from your old Vista CD. Just boot, let it be... see what happens..

Sorry no vista cd never had one it just had a recovery partition which is long gone.

Can you explain why that would help as Memtest is a boot disc and dosnt use Windows but does show the erors

Thanks for the continuing help!

You are totally right about memtest... It's just that there is no logical explanation for the previous ok functioning in Vista with 3G's. A malfunctioning mem controller doesn't explain this (yet). Are you sure there is no dirt, bent connectors, etc in the ramstick / busses?
