Acer Laptop.. ready to get it online

Nigel...Yippie this is now working correctly.. I'm on line and was going to reply from the Laptop but seems I need to log in over there.. this is quicker to let you know.
ALL the lights on my router are bright GREEN.. everything looks to be functioning perfectly.

Why might it be that I'm ask to long in on the Laptop? because it is using Windows 7 .. or the different long in I use on it?
just curious I can read most of the post.. except for the bottom few.

When you say log in on the laptop do you mean log in to the site here or to the router?

As the laptop is connecting wireless and the desktop is connecting via cable there will be slight differences to the log-in procedure for the router, but this should be automatic after the first time.

You will need to provide the wireless key that is set-up for the router, but once that is done win7 should remember this and log-in to the network every time that the system "sees" the network as available when the laptop is switched on.
This assumes of course that you have set-up wireless security on the router, always a good idea to prevent someone else "borrowing" your connection, or your data as it travels through the air.

If you have not set-up any wireless security if you post the exact make and model of the router we will be able to provide a step by step to help you.

The same procedure will apply to log-in to the site, as the laptop is a different device the Cookie that the site stores on your system to store your log-in details has to be created at least once - as long as you tick the remember me box at site log-in you should not have to log back in unless you purposely log-out.

It's getting late-ish here now so will have to sign off and go to bed shortly but will pick this back up when I return tomorrow

I hope I don't have to do that each time I arrive here..
I've not set up a security name or stuff yet.for this router.. I'll need help for it.

I started a new thread for the above earlier today.
Gave all the info. I could see on the box , of the router.

I still have to sign in on the laptop each time I open it. or if it goes to sleep.

logged in using current info. saw a message from you ..Clicked> went to this forum.. cound't get my Name or pass word to work.. closed down the laptop after trying a few times.. wanted to reply to you. NO go..
Came to the desktop .. couldn't a connection.. NOT sure it's the routers fault..MSN has been ratty today.. so could have been them.
anyway.. closed down the Laptop.. undone the router..logged in as usual to my DSL.. came here.. to reply.. no problem at all getting in here. to reply.

So that's it for today.. I'm pooped out.
