Hi all,
I've recently purchased a 4tb internal hard drive (WD blue) and found that my computer only sees 1.6tb of the 4.0tb drive.
The computer is:
Acer aspire e700 desktop with Acer fg965m motherboard.
Windows 7 64bit ultimate
It recognises 2tb fine.
I have tried setting the drive as a gpt disk using diskpart etc to no avail.
I've tried updating the drivers.. again, to no avail.
My computer will recognise 4tb USB external drives fine as I use them for backup.
Would I be correct in thinking that a 2007 based bios may be the issue and the USB drivers have updated where the Intel motherboard drivers cant be updated and thus, stopping it from seeing anything above 2tb ?
If it isn't possible to use this drive as an internal drive due to the age of the mobo, would it be possible to put the drive in an enclosure and use it as a backup drive?
Thanks
Rob

Also worth mentioning that the 4tb drive is purely for data storage. The operating system, boot etc is all done from a different drive.
No raid arrangements or anything like that.. just a bunch of drives for simplicity.
