I uninstalled Acronis TI 2011 from my pc and now Win7's Backup and Restore in control panel won't work. I reinstalled Acronis then selected Revert to Win7 system image restore create option. Which it did. Then I removed Acronis and restarted. After all that the tab in control panel labeled Back up and restore still won't open with out Acronis installed.
How do I fix this so it was like it was before I bought and installed Acronis TI ?

Hi Truckinguy, I had the same problem with mine when I removed it. It's a well known issue with Acronis. Did you create a system image while you had Acronis installed? If so you can restore the image, then before you attempt to remove Acronis re-enable the option to integrate Acronis into the Back & Restore Center then uninstall it. That worked for me anyway.
If you didn't create a system image there is an article I found. The bottom of the page tells you about the Backup Control panel issue.
But it does involve editing the registry. Which I would only recommend if you know what you're doing, as you could end up doing more damage.

Not quite sure what you mean..
I see though there is an issue. I tried Acronis clean up tool but that didn't work. I am not sure about regristry changing. I'm handy with a pc and can follow directions but I can't seem to find a step by step how to get rid of Acronis control and free up my Win7 Back up Restore function. I do have a current system image that I know I can use to get back on track if I screw up trying.
Acronis wants $10 for support per incident. I don't know if they can make it easy for me to do it. Funny they make this problem and want money to fix it? I don't want Acronis in my pc anymore.

Did you have a Windows (Not Acronis) System Image created while Acronis was installed? If yes then you need to revert back to that so that Acronis is installed again.
Then there is an option in the Acronis settings menu which says "Reintegrate Acronis into the windows backup and restore control panel" or something along those lines. You need to select that option and then uninstall Acronis.
Yes I know it's bad when they want to charge you for an issue which they caused in the first place.
I don't use Acronis and won't again. I use both Windows System Images and Macrium Reflect Free version and had no problems with either.

Can't I just install Acronis again then select to have Acronis run the system image function? The images I have all are with Acronis installed so I'm stuck short of a total reinstall of win 7 which I can not or don't want to do. But I do have a spare cloned drive of my system (still with Acronis on it) so my only option is to try to change the regristery? If I payed Acronis would they walk me thru the steps of changing the regristery?

Apparently the problem still happens in the 2012 version. Thats why I won't use their products again.

I still have a problem. No Acronis but I can't restore an Win7 Image. I can make one but it won't restore it like I use to be able to do before Acronis. A black screen comes up claiming why it can't do it.

I used all versions of ATI from 2009 Thru 2012. Trying to clean it off of your rig is like trying to light a cigarette in a hurricane. I finally gave up and done a clean install. I won't even let a link in my favorites to Acronis. I moved on to another backup software.

Which brand of backup software you use causes some discussions on this forum. Not wanting to start a discussion as to which is best, I use Macrium 5 (paid) I find it more than sufficient for my needs. It doesn't seem to be intrusive, works well in Win 7 and the interface is to my liking. I created the rescue disk with WinPe because I had trouble booting from the Linux ver.
Hi all
I've actually NEVER had any problems with Acronis stuff ==> however I usually do any backup's and restores from a Bootable USB rather than a running system.
Keep your OS and applications on a separate partition to your data and you'll be fine.
Remember backing up your Windows OS partition you will need also to backup the small System partition too if it exists.
If it DOES exist remember on RESTORE this is the ACTIVE partition and the OS partition should be restored as a PRIMARY partition.
People usually come to grief because they forget about the system partition or restore the OS partition a the ACTIVE one.
Note the above remarks only apply IF you have the system partition.
Cheers
jimbo

I use Macrium 5 and Windows System Images to backup my System Reserved and C: Drive and I use a program called Casper 7 doing differential backups for my data partition. I like to keep my data partition backed up on a folder to folder level and separate from my Windows images. Quicker to restore that way if anything goes wrong with my system.
Only ever had a problem once when I restored a system image and wiped out my data partition. But that was when I first had Windows 7 and I didn't set the backup correctly.

No this is cool..Very interesting..but for me kind of too complex at this point. One question though. Does your methods of backing do it quicker then cloneing a drive? I have a Dell with the media bay 2nd HDD and use the Seagate free tool (made by Acronis) to make a bootable clone just in case. I can boot off this clone via start up if I need to. But you guys already know this I'm sure. It's easier and best for me right now.
Reflect was nice buy very complicated looking so I dumped it for now. Cloneing does take time. I usually leave it and go off doing my chores. The only thing I have a problem with cloneing is if I want to get a file out of the cloned drive I get an error saying it's protected. I'd like to be able to get files from this drive if I need to with out alot of extra work. Any ideas on how to make these files free after cloneing them to my 2nd HDD?

Have to say that I've never actually cloned a drive before so I can't really comment on that. I would probably clone my drive if I was going to upgrade to a bigger hard drive though. Which I'll probably do in the next 6 months.
Not sure why you're not able to access the files. I would have thought the security permissions on the files would stay the same when cloned?

Permissions often change for me that is nothing new. I have to reset files or folders everyonce in a while. For instance I can install an update to an app and the containing directory in no longer available due to permissions.
I am wondering about your cloned disk. Is it a clone of the OS? If so it maybe set to active and cause some problems in your OS.
