Acronis True Image Home 2009 Causes Computer Shut Off

Using Acronis True Image Home 2009 (build 9,796) on Windows 7 build 7100 64-bit.

During the backup process the computer shuts off. No shut down, just turns off. Upon restart, Windows 7 does know that it has been shut down improperly, it just starts up normally. Acronis thinks it has completed the backup successfully.

Anybody seen this problem? I am using Acronis trial right now. I need a good disk image backup problem, and this one would be great if it didn't randomly power the computer off.

Recommend you get a NON TRIAL version of Acronis. I'm using v.12 and have had no problems with any version of Win 7. and it might be your copy of x64.

You might try setting the Backup Priority to High & this may solve that problem. ;)
I always set both backup & recovery priority to high. :)

And NO, this has Never happened to me using x86 or x64 W7 operating systems. :sarc:

I've seen one other issue with Acronis on the forums that I hangout at. The situation generated a BSOD - so I'd suggest to see if you've got any in the C:\Windows\Minidump folder. If so, zip them up and upload the .zip file in your next post.

Nice, I'll have to check it out. I do like Acronis, perhaps is will work better once Win7 goes live. I find it to be a lot more reliable than Norton Ghost.

The folder you suggest looking in, c:\Windows\minidump , does not exist. Also, I didn't get the BSOD. The computer just shuts off. I am going to search for another product as I need some kind of incremental disk image backup solution for 7.

Acronis.True.Image.Home.2009.v12.0.0.9770

I am using Acronis, and have NO PROBLEMS ON ANY VERSION OF WINDOWS 7.
So either you have a problem because it is TRIAL, or you DL version is corrupt, or a program you have installed is causing the problem.

Acronis is not the PROBLEM.

Acronis has worked for me like a CHAMP through MANY Win7 image backups and restores throughout this beta/RC phase.

Also, what kind of Emergency Boot disk does the Macrium Free include?

Oh really? I've used TI for years and would not go near it right now in this early stage of W7.

And anyway, just in general terms, check out the TI forum. TI 2009, which I got for free, has a long list of complaints. Maybe it is fine and it's the user. But for something like system backups, I'll wait. Even Acronis' "official" position is that W7 is not yet supported.

Of course W7 is NOT SUPPORTED, W7 is not even RELEASED. There are VERY FEW software packages that do SUPPORT W7. Duh...

I and many others are using it with W7 very well thank you. Along with Logitech, ATI, Ad-Aware, Adobe, Sound Forge, CD Architect, Picasa, Photoshop, Avast, Roxio EMC10, Steam and numerous other unsupported applications.

This is the SevenForums... Welcome to the bleeding edge of technology!

I have this problem

This began happening after I installed 2010, found it lacking, uninstalled and reinstalled 2009.

The laptop shuts down shortly after the backup starts either from the PC or a boot CD.

There is never anything in the event log to indicate a problem.

At first I suspected heat, but Paragon trial backup & recover backups up without any problem.

TI Problems

I too have used TI for years since acquiring the freebee version with the purchase of a Seagate (I think) drive. Always worked like a charm until 2010. There was a lot of frustration with the interface where changes made navagation a relearning process. The problem that caused me to revert to the previous version was scheduling. I was never able to get a scheduled backup to kick off.

Regards, JB
