Acronis v11 Rescue Disk

I am running Win 7 Pro on a computer that has only usb controls. There are NO ide connections.

I have Acronis True Image v11 installed.

Is there a way using ATI 11 to create a rescue disk so that it has the drivers for the wireless mouse and keyboard?

When you create a rescue disk, there is a place to enter commands to load drivers that will be included in the boot. I have never used it. The bios load the USB and my wireless KB and mouse function. That may vary according to your Mobo.

Upto perhaps V11, Acronis was only providing plug-ins for a BART PE based recovery disk. When you do create a BART PE disk, you can add whatever drivers you want and there wiil be no need to inject them during the recovery process. But the BART PE recovery disk thus created becomes system-specific. ( I had created a BART PE based recovery disk with Acronis True Image, Power Quest Drive Image 2002 and Drive Image XML plug-ins and RAID drivers for my now defunct XP system years ago.)

With the latest Acronis True Image Home 2011, which is an upgrade to ATIH 11, if you also buy the Plus pack, you get the plug-in for creating Win PE based recovery disk. A wizard takes you through all the steps to create one. I did create one a week ago. When I tried it, I was surprised that there was no need for me to inject the RAID drivers. ( With the current Paragon and the previous version ShadowProtectv3 Win PE recovery disks, I have to inject the RAID drivers and my multiboot USB pendrive which runs all these recovery disks also stores the RAID drivers, making it easy ). Just for the information.

With most or all modern motherboards, the bios should take care of the USB KB and mouse as HammerHead pointed out.

And I do faintly remember, I had problems with some old systems and linux based CDs and at those times I simply used a wired KB and mouse .

I finally managed to make the recovery disk.

First time I had to go into Safe Mode and when it made the disk, I had to use a DVD rather than a CD. (data size on disk is only 54 mb).

I then made an iso file and burned it to a CD.

Both worked when I used the Disk to boot up.

Here is the issue with the recovery disks as I see it. My PC has four partitions and the recovery disk does not see them properly. It sees them this way:

Sees C as D
Sees D as E
Sees E as F
Sees F as G

Seems weird to me and I have not tried to recover from an image made with the recovery disk (almost afraid to). I have no idea how the disk will see the partitions when it is used to recover an image.

I guess I can try one of these days and see.

At least now I know how to make the recovery disk.
