That should work out for you then. When ever going to replace an preinstall you always need the exact same version as well as edition and 32/64bit flavor and even with or without the SPs for it if none were included.

That's one way to do it! :roflmao: Just don't leave it sitting around waiting too long.

If the iso saw a good write to the flash drive you should be up and running in no time. The next clean install here will be by flash drive as well only with SP1 and the updates integrated however.

Just read my first message carefully and follow it. Then there would be no more trouble.

If you are sure that you have installed the correct version and the Product Key does not work then please phone up Microsoft to activate it. But whether it is the correct version or not would be best confirmed by eMachines.

The Ultimate edition generally never comes preinstalled on a GateWay or most other OEM machine unless being sold as an office machine or like with Dell
where you can specify which version or OS when ordering direct from them. Having simply gone into the Control Panel>System while the original preinstall
was on would show which edtion as well as SP1 or not since the first screen show the main information there.

The top shows the edition and whether or not SP1 is on and when you below that the 32bit or 64bit operating system is specified under system>system
type right under the installed memory RAM. If you got the version and flavor of 7 correct calling into MS would seem to be the best move. But let NoelDP
look over the log you posted just the same.

There is no reason (at least in the report - you have still not said what's on the COA sticker) why this should not activate properly using telephone activation.

It came with the 64bit 7 HP and that's precisely what you would need in order to use the OEM key! That is only good for the 64bit Windows and the Home Premium edition.......

This is not correct.

For a longtime I was also under the impression that one has to use the same bit version doing a clean install till I found out to be not true.

Whether one wants to preserve the OEM activation (using the OEM-SLP key and associated data that in conjunction with the valid OEM SLIC embedded in the machine by the OEM will auto activate) or use the CoA-SLP key on the OEM machine, the user can changeover from 32 bit to 64 bit or viceversa and can get it activated. It has to be the same Windows 7 edition but can be 32bit or 64 bit.

The OP can changeover from 64 bit to 32 bit and it should not affect the activation. (CoA-SLP key activation by phone has always been bothersome to many users and the activation process has mostly been inconsistent. Even in a recent thread the user has intimated that his CoA key activation went through online without the need for a phone call while here the OP has problems in activating)

The problem there is that the machine came with the 7 Home Premium not Ultimate edition. After Vista first came out Dell was the one that started offering the choice of OS when any new system(laptop or desktop) from them.

Most new OEM machines will now see 3gb of memory for the 32bit and 4-6gb more often 6gb on desktops for the 64bit edition it comes with. That would be for either the Home Premium or Pro edition.
