Add Hibernate

I have tired stuff in the command prompt and i have tried in the power settings but nothing works.
How do i add herbenate to list of shut down commands?

What i mean is like this

How do i add it to above?

The command that Garlic gave you should work. Are you sure the command was executed. Best is to copy/paste the command into the cmd window. Cmd is very iffy if you forget a blank.

did you notice there is a space between " powercfg "and " - ", and between " h " and " on " ?
Try copy/paste the command line into the cmd window, instead of typing manually.

I did copy and paste. I pasted and pressed enter, nothing happens.
Am i suppose to restart to see it? Or should it happen right away?

It should happen right away. Try this, run powercfg -h off followed by powercfg -h on. See what happens.

Check in your power options that Hybrid sleep is OFF as this may prevent Hibernate from appearing

I've run into this before helping other friends on new systems, with the same default situation from vendor-provided Win7 systems that have "hybrid sleep : ON". That's how I discovered the solution.


(P.S. - I'm dsperber that you're quoting, not JK. But looking at the timing of our two essentially identical replies to you, it appears we both came to the same conclusion and solution for you within 1 minute of each other. Glad you got your issue resolved, which is the important thing.)

You're absolutely right!!! I didn't even think of that!! I only saw that Josh Kingsbury (i.e. "shadowJK") had posted the same solution I did a minute later, and assumed that was the JK being referenced in the thank you... especially after HE (i.e. JK) thanked OP for thanking him!

All this "tweet talk" and abbreviations... can never really be sure I get it.

Anyway, thanks for straightening this all out for me. I now subscribe to your interpretation. Completely plausible.

We're all square, and the hibernation problem is solved.
