Solved Add notes to jpegs

Does anyone know of a good way to add notes to jpeg files?

You can add comments in Windows explorer.

Thanks, all, for the suggestions. I'll look first at Windows Explorer. I should have looked there!

Do the other programs require others to have that program to see the notes? Thanks again!

looking at zoner again ,it appears you need to view the image with it to see the notes,
i have to say though, when i click on a jpeg in explorer i dont see the fields that allow comments to be made.



edit, i see now i have to check the details in view, checkboxes for comments etc
although ive checked them and no show

You can do it two ways in explorer.

1. Pull up the bottom bar as shown in my post.
2. Open properties and go to the details tab.

thanks kado, the first image i posted was the bottom bar extended,
heres a couple of snips showing nothing after checking the details boxes and the properties showing no comments or title fields either.

That's a png file. It doesn't support the same properties as jpg which is what I was showing.

ok but the jpeg i first showed still wont show the fields for title or comments and they are checked in the details view ,in fact none of my jpegs allow me to add comments in the explorer pane ,.
this is strange as i edit music tags occasionally through explorer and this method through explorer for pictures would have been handy too. i dont get why the fields dont show up in explorer for me.

I don't know. I have checked my jpegs from several sources and all allow me these fields. I wonder if I have installed something that allows them.

been googling and most folks are saying to add comments to photos in explorer, no mention of enabling it with third parties , i can do music titles etc in explorer but not pics, maybe i need to start a new thread with this issue,see what others think ,and whether they can add comments .

I think it may be you. I have just looked at a virgin win 7 install in a VM. This is one of the sample pictures.

My problem exactly. When I right-click a jpeg or when I right-click and choose Properties, I don't get the kinds of options kado897 gets, which is what I'd like. Could this be a library installation/enabling issue?

If you have them they would be on the details tab.

I figured this out--my problem with it, at least. It's not a right-click that brings up the pane. It's a single left click when the file is in its folder listing.

Right click lets you open the properties dialogue and the details tab on that is another way to update the comments.

I have this problem, it is to do with ownership of the file and permissions, set when the file is created. I find it very hard to follow the myriad of paths towards changing the permission settings. Again, music files I can add comments and details, but not pics

i tried taking ownership ,and setting permissions but to no avail.
its fine on the desktop but not the laptop, its possible some software i have added has conflicted, but i wouldnt know which one, so for now i change the details from the desktop.
