Have a Hewett Packard desktop. How much memory will it handle? Has 4 slots but 2 are empty. Is a 64 bit office module running Windows home Premium. What information do you need?

Hi Tripper2,

Firstly...

Update System Specifications

Please update your system specifications in your UserCP => Edit System Spec setup. It will help us to help you!

This SevenForums tutorial [Published by Brink and written by CyberZeus] uses an automated tool which makes this task very easy and quick to do. Click here => System Info - See Your System Specs.

Thanks.

You can lookup the make and model of your computer and it will tell you in the specifications how much RAM it will hold and the RAM type.

Hi Tripper2,

Download and run Speccy [FREE] from here => Speccy.

It will tell you what type of RAM you already have installed. You will need to get the exact same type as that stated in Speccy.

I hope this helps!

Hi Tripper2

Do you have enough of my system specs? I just sent.

I can't find anything out about the RAM and motherboard based upon the provided information.

Perhaps if you could run Speccy again. On the left hand-side of Speccy, click on the RAM tab and take a screenshot of the information, then click on the Motherboard tab and take a screenshot of that information too.

Upload the two screenshots to a new post on this forum thread. Then we can use that information to determine what sort of RAM you require for your computer.

Is there any reason why you will not run... System Info - See Your System Specs?

It puts all the relevant system specifications directly into your UserCP => Edit System Spec setup, otherwise every time you have a problem you will have to manually enter them into every post!

Hang in there Tripper, getting your specs posted can be a pain and there are a lot of ways to do it. But if you click on "My system specs" on one of your posts you will see that there is no detail there, yet. But that is no matter because all we really need here is your motherboard and your exact installed memory dimm info. Above we already have your motherboard as an EP45-UD3LR, so we're all set there. But now we need to know your memory dimm part numbers. Once we know your motherboard and dimm part numbers we're good to go.

To post your dimm part numbers simply do start > run > cmd >enter. Then type in this command

wmic memorychip get partnumber |clip

that command will grab your memory dimm part numbers and copy them to the windows clipboard. Then just use your mouse to right-click-paste the results as a response to this post.

How much memory will it handle?

Your motherboard manual says your board supports 16GB of DDR2 1366/1066/800/667 MHz memory modules

http://download1.gigabyte.us/Files/Manual/motherboard_manual_ga-ep45-ud3l(r)_e.pdf

Here is a list of dimms that have been specifically tested on your motherboard.

http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Memory/motherboard_memory_ga-ep45-ud3lr.pdf

The reason I asked you for memory dimm part numbers on my previous post is because if you have 6GB today and want to go to 8GB, the easiest way to do it is to just get two more dimms that are the same part number as your existing 2GB dimms.

Even if I buy more ram , will the PC be able to use it or am I just wasting my money? Some pc's can only handle so mush ram even if you have extra slots on the motherboard. That is what I want to find out.

Do you think he is having a laugh? :roflmao:
If people want to be taken seriously and receive help on their problems/issues you would think they would at least do what we asked them to do. At the end of the day after all it is for their benefit!
