Administrator Issues

I've installed 7 on two comps now and on both I have had issues with being an administrator.
I somehow managed to tweak one of them but I'm having trouble with the newer one.
I have a main account (which is an administrator) but I do not have the "run as administrator" command and when i try to install Office 07 it won't open the installer because the account is not an administrator.
I've turned on the hidden admin and it can run the setup, but what am I missing to allow a normal "administrator" to have the actual administrator commands?

You probably have messed something with the installations but I can't think of what.

Have you turned UAC off and see what happens? Have you installed any utilities that might handle security issues? Try to remove them if so, and try turning UAC off.

try it making a new Admin account and see if the run as admin...
UAC should have prompt you before the install even if you dont right click...
this makes me believe that you have UAC off....

not sure WHY you would have any problem at all.... nor see the reason to enable the hidden admin. On install, you who installed 7 with the password you chose, made that account admin already. If a user tries to install a program or does anything with needed elevated privledges that it doesnt have, then of course it will prompt you for the admin password. Are you not getting the prompt for a password needed for admin priv?
If not then this is where the problem would lie, and i am guessing its the UAC settings also. Can you not right click the setup.exe properties, run as admin? can you even right click and select properties of the file? Is run as admin greyed out or not a choice under file properties??

One option that may provide a solution is to try a Shift-Right Click which should display the Run as different user (hidden option) .... option

Yeah it's really weird. There is no option to run admin at all, and for the Office 07 setup there isn't a UAC notification it just straight locks me out of being able to install it.

Then it sounds like something is not right - are you running as the 'hidden' *Administrator* account, or as an account like John The Slayer, admin?

I'm currently running the admin type account (not the hidden one).

hmm
can you open the task manager (right click your taskbar and then click start task manager)
there click on file new task (run) then browse to the installation and make sure this is checked...

Thanks Barman58! That was exactly what I needed to do.
I had the same issue as the OP, could not install tho the account was set to Admin, this worked perfectly tho - good call.
