Yep, that's the latest TraceMonkey build. The Latest trunk has not had the 601355 bug merged with it as of yet so, in the meantime, anyone using the latest trunk still needs to implement the {"javascript.opitions.methodjit.content" change to "False"} fix.

There is, however, a build on Mozillazine by jznomomey that incorporates the latest trunk build with the latest trace monkey build fix for the 601355 bug.

I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the fix is merged but jznomoney has been the only one to do it with the latest trunk, so far.

I see the next nightly is supposed to incorporate the fix, however. Good News - I hope it happens.

I also hope Mozilla changes it's tune and releases a true 64 bit official release version for Windows as, thus far, they have feigned indifference publicly.

Note: I'm only speaking of the 64 bit version (aka Minefield win64-x86)

Yesterday I started getting crashes from Flash in Minefield. I've updated since, and the issue persists. This morning the issue occurred and Minefield states it is up-to-date. Anyone else have this issue?

I'm using 64-bit Minefield with Adobe Square on Windows 7.

Hi, DaedalusIcarusX, welcome to the Seven Forums! :)

I have the same issue with the November 11th build. I fell back to the November 10th build which doesn't crash the "Square Preview" 64 bit plugin nearly as often (actually, seldom).

No new update in the nightlies past the 11th, yet.

Yup. Same issue here. If I try to run flash content on a website I get a crash message and no video. However, if I then go straight to youtube it plays fine. Curious.

Oh and welcome to the forum Daedalus:D

So far, the crash of the Flash plugin on FF x64 is attributed to a bug in the asynchronous layer-based plugin painting or, more precisely, a fix of that bug affecting another area of the program.

Just stick with the November 10th build (linked to above) for now. :)

Thanks for the link Mike. I've rolled back and that seems to be fine. Hope Mozilla are on the case for the next build. I've been reporting the crashes but I'm not sure anyone cares about Minefield.
I haven't heard of any plans to make an official x64 release of FF, have you?

Not yet, John. There is some talk on the MozillaZine Forums that we'll see an x64 version supported in the 4.1 FF release but not the 4.0.x release.

The fact that Mozilla is going forward with Minefield is promising, however, and, since they already have OSX and Linux x64 versions they're supporting, I think it will be sooner than later.

John, you are quite welcome for the link. :)

I'll be testing the next build when it comes out. Since they merged the JS (TraceMonkey) build with the trunk (Central) build there have been no updates of TraceMonkey to test and I'll be skipping the November 11th Central build for now.

You can go with the November 16th Trace Monkey build, John. It appears the Central and Trace Monkey builds have been split again and the asynchronous layer-based plugin painting "fix" has not been merged with the Trace Monkey build, yet.

As you discovered, the latest November 16 Central (trunk) build crashes Flash.

(Note: I'm only discussing the x64 FF 4.0b8pre builds)

John, the latest Central (trunk) build (November 17th) doesn't break Flash anymore but it does mess with the drop downs on this forum. For example, if one clicks on the "Quick Links" drop down at the top, nothing happens but a page refresh.

The latest Trace Monkey build (November 17th), however, works fine on these forums and with Flash.

Let me edit, John, it's still best to stick with the November 16th Trace Monkey build for now as even the November 17th build crashes Flash on a few sites (Politico, in particular, for one).

Edit 2 (11-18): The November 18th Trunk build has fixed a number of bugs and other issues. Stability has returned to the trunk! :)

Can I have both x86 & x64?

Guys hi, Can I have both x86 & x64 flash plugins?. My main browser today is firefox 3.6.12 with a lot of extensions, VERY personalized to my form of work. All these exts work ok in x64 3.6.xx builds, of course not flash. What I'd like to know is I can have like java, both x86 AND x64 flash plugs installed ????

Firefox 4.0b8pre x64 (portable) crashes with plugin installed on opening a page with flash. IE 8 x64 works OK. Will try later on with a 3.6.xx x64 build of firefox and see what gives and report back EDIT: downloaded firfox makatos build 3.6.3 "namoraka". Installed, copied over to portable installation, with no profile. Flash x64 worked OK. Added a FULL (lots of extensions) profile, flash x64 still works Just in case downloaded todays nightly of 4.0b8 (the one I had was a couple of days old), and BEHOLD: flash does not crash anymore. So maybe these Adobe guys are doing some good work, EVEN if it IS QUITE LATE (64 bit HAS been around for a while you know?). ;-)
