since the sources for my work is so important i have them backed up on SEVERAL COMPUTERS

yes i know there are better ways. i have the data backed up too but i decided to backup my stuff on several computers . this is about as seamless as i can think of. anyway that's not the point

i decide to go back and start two computers that i havent attended to for 3yrs. they have been off for that long at least,,,maybe 4yrs

so i plugged them in a started them up. ONE DOESN'T START. the other i can hear start but that's it - it doesn't boot

i never expected 3 or 4 yrs of idleness would result two essentially dead computers. i have not attempted to "switch things around" to isolate the prob. mainly, how could this be,,,is the only thing that's been running through my mind:(

can anyone throw out some ideas?

thx, folks

Having that being said, I want to do just that however I want / hope by doing so whatever MS & HP does, I cannot determine what version of the O/S was originally installed. The reason I need to know is when I attempt to reinstall Windows-7, the install stops and says what Version / Level I am trying to install "does not match whatever Version / Level originally delivered the PC System with". I could have been any version of Vista or Windows-7. I purchad it Refurbed from the Internet. I booted right up and into W-10. I want W-7 PRO. Can you help me?

Mike you have hijacked the OP's post. You need to start a new thread yourself lest this thread descend into chaos.

When the battery goes dead ot you replace it the bios goes back to defaults then you may need to redo the bios setting like ufei, disk mode and many other settings these is know way of us knowing what you setting were as each is different you may be lucky and it works with defaults
