Solved After 3 years, a sudden "Reboot and Select proper Boot device"

Hi very good :)
Every month is an adventure but ultimately Recommended updates should be avoided to cure issues caused by them
I personally have no need for Bitlocker so I passed on it and the majority of anything in the Optional section ;)

Do you have any System Restores available?

EDIT: Just saw that Mike responded.

I had attempted a System Restore to the last save point, a few nights ago, but it threw an error and I gave up on that approach.

In the thread Thrash linked to, the OP had also extensively attempted system restores and it did not appear to help. It looks like changing Secure Boot to 'Other OS' is the main workaround.

Hi,
Yep this update might of change the bios settings in some cases so a restore point or even a system image would probably not restore any bios changes.
I've heard Win-10 has had some users with the same issue and reported bios settings changes.

I personally have not booted into win-10 to see what will happen since I read this
Well I can't post a link to it the M$ site is a train wreck full of issues today = more than usual anyway answers.microsoft.com it's a pinned item in the win-10 section :)

Maat, you really saved me here! I knew an update was the cause as the windows updater ran when I powered down my computer and the issue began! I just had no idea how to discern the actual root of the issue. Thank you so much! I just hope that I didn't do too much damage in all my other attempted fixes. Nowthat it's up and running again, my HDD is showing up in "My Computer" but it's unlinked! Anyway, i'm almost back to normal, thanks again!

EDIT: Figured it out, you're a lifesaver Maat!

Nah, please thank the Seven Forums gurus instead! I'm just one guy reporting a problem, they're the ones devoting their time to support forums to help us. I was close to giving up on this, thankfully Thrash made the link between this issue and issues seen in other forums. Glad to hear it solved your issue as well!

not working for me...

Hi there...A little late on this thread, but I've attempted the recommended steps provided by Asus, but it doesn't seem to work for me. I've also attempted changing the CSM setting to forget legacy modes as suggested by another user, but this didn't work for me either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I assume you're getting the same 'Reboot and select device...' issue, what happened before you got that? My issue happened out of the blue after a Microsoft update. The other common source of this error is after you've installed a new drive, or changed the order of the drives, is that possible in your case?

Maat - thank you for your fast reply. From the time I posted to the time you replied, I fixed the error that was happening due to the recent Windows 7 update *****977. What worked for me was deleting the saved keys, then reloading the default keys in combination with changing secure boot to 'other OS'.
