After reinstalling windows start up feels slower

My computer was able to boot up fast enough that it skips the windows animation at boot-up halfway. After reinstalling windows it no-longer does this and feels slightly slower but not much of a problem, I installed all of my updates.. I don't know how to make my computer do what it used to do.. that's how it was factory setting but i needed to reinstall my pc so i can have different drivers, which work better for my overall set-up. sound etc.

Try unchecking everything but the antivirus software in msconfig inside the Startup tab

Click on the rb: start icon in the bottom left corner of your screen.

Type MSCONFIG in the search box and then either press enter on your keyboard or double-click on the MSCONFIG program that appears in the search results.

Windows 7 will launch Microsoft's System Configuration Utility. Click on the Startup tab.

Uncheck everything but the Antivirus software

Click on Apply and Ok

Click on Exit without Restart and restart manually

This isn't the problem, i also have almost no programs installed on my computer. but to answer your question more directly I've tried this.

Have you tried Disk Defrag ?

My windows was installed on my SSD, and reinstalled on it too, so running defrag would help?

No didnt know you had an SSD

Try updating the firmware .

   Tip

you never want to Defrag a SSD drive

I still have the back-up of my older OS(factory settings with some of my tweaks), which i saved just before reinstalling windows.. i could use that but im scared that what i've done was probably perm

You could reinstall Windows as many times you want .

Number 1 inside the tutorial has a link for a legit Windows 7 ISO file that you could use to get a clean install without the OEM bloatware

Last question i guess if you don't mind me asking, what is this firmware update going to actually do? will my ssd preform better overall and for the best?

Its suppose to fix any issues you're having on your SSD .

you just need to give Windows time to optimize itself. ReadyBoot needs to trace the boot process, SuperFetch needs to get itself sorted, etc.

Btw, ReadyBoot is the not the same thing as ReadyBoost

+1, After a fresh install im guessing your installed all the windows updates. When i do this my pc is stupid slow until the updates sort out and it starts getting used to how i run it.

If you didn't follow steps similar to those in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
then I would do it over to get it right.

For one thing, this is not XP and Win7 decides for itself what drivers it wants from the installer and quickly updated during several rounds of Important and Optional Windows Updates after enabling Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware (Step 3). You should not change out drivers that WIn7 wants unless there are performance problems traced to them.
